Nairi intended to let the others handle the strategy, because that had never really been a strong point for him. Before any of this, he wasn't anything more than a farmhand, and his abilities after that point in his life were impulsive at best. At the mention of rest, he couldn't help but yawn. It always struck him as odd that even the smallest fights seemed to wear him out, and this was no exception. He cradled Nanai in his lap, scritching behind her ears absently, head drooping to the side... apparently he intended on sleeping out here under the overhang. The youth didn't think there was anything wrong with that. He loved the rain, and it always helped him find slumber and stay with it.

Anna took a deep breath. She knew they were right, it made no sense to try going after Rafe and the others in the rain and fog. They would never be able to catch up and would only make themselves sick trying. Besides, they would have to gather some resources. She didn't have much, but she could at least prepare herself for the adventure that was coming.
Anna had thought when she became a mother that all the adventures were left behind her, and she was okay with that. She was happy to live a simple life with her son.
"Come in," Anna invited them. "We'll rest and prepare ourselves. I don't have much, but what I do have that'll be any good, we can use."
With that, Anna turned and walked into her house, not wanting to seem rude to these people who were risking everything for her, but suddenly feeling numb and caring only about saving her son.
And also concerned as to why he was taken. Could someone have learned his secret? But how? It wasn't possible!

Kirithis, of course, knew nothing of Rafe's secret, nor who those men were or why they could possibly want to take him. All she knew was that the pain in her shoulder had eased down to a dull ache that pulsed through her entire arm with every heartbeat. She needed to take a look at it before she hunted down anyone, and she could only hope that the muscles in it weren't trashed for the next few days.
She followed Anna quietly, holding her shoulder as she tried to determine what was wrong with it without yet looking. It was useless; she wasn't a doctor, nor even a self-proclaimed nurse. She was just herself.. "Anyone know anything substantial about injuries?" she asked.

Strategy seemed fine with Kashan--she was no military mind--but her mind, at least, was probably the most useful thing about her in this situation. "Nairi, come inside, you'll get sick falling asleep out here," she said. Honestly, one minute he was downright frightening...the next he could be so much like a child. She wanted to unbind and stretch her wings but...better not to in front of people who didn't know she wasn't precisely human. The deus instead rolled her shoulders to try to ease them as much as she could without being obvious, when Kirithis spoke.
"I'm no medic, but I've seen my share of battle injuries. I may be able to help, but I can't guarantee anything." Yeah, Kashan had seen a lot in life--it came with being almost twice as old as she looked, but age wasn't something she talked about. It was safer and easier to let people assume what they pleased.
She gestured for Kirithis to sit in a chair at the kitchen table. "Let me look at it and we'll see. Where did you injure yourself?"

If anyone else had told him such a thing in this particular instance, he would've just written them off with an annoyed grunt. It was Kashan, though, and even though he loved the rain, he knew that she only had his best interests in mind. His distant eyes flittered open and he stood, Nanai cradled in his arms, padding quietly into the house and making sure he didn't make tracks as he did so. "Sorry," came a faint response that was half-yawn in nature.
He released the feline to join Kashan and sought the first cushioned thing he could find that was suitable for resting. When he sank down onto said cushioned thing, he made sure that his sword rested in the crook of his shoulder, eyes closing soon after. Wielding it took a lot out of him - it was quite the insistant tool in combat, and making effective use out of it was difficult, if not ruthlessly efficient. Now, though, he just wanted to rest. It'd be better if he had Kashan to wrap his arms around as he drifted off, but it sounded like she had important things to do... so he'd have to settle with dreaming of her.

Anna rustled around the kitchen, preparing food for her guests. As though she were holding a dinner party rather than feeding those who were going to help her rescue her son.
Her helpless, infant, son. Despite his...uniqueness, he was totally defenseless against those who had taken him.
Anna wondered why. It wasn't possible, they couldn't know! They couldn't possibly know! But if not, then why kidnap Rafe in the first place? None of it made any sense.
"Does...does anyone have any ideas about what to do next?" Anna asked. "Or...did anyone recognize any of these men, or their names, or...I don't even know what I'm asking. I guess...does anyone have any ideas?"

"I think he dislocated my shoulder," Kirithis said to Kashan as they entered the home. "It's back in place now, as far as I know, but it hurts like Sorth's backside. I want to make sure nothing is wrong with it." Other than that, she was quiet for a long while, listening to the others and trying to work things out in her mind.
"Did any of them say any of the others' names?" she asked. She herself could not recall if they had or not. Some assassin she was..

"I think the one that summoned the bunnies was called "Loopey" or something like that," Kashan answered, carefully inspecting Kirithis's shoulder as best she could. She was, after all, no medic and didn't have any real skill, but from what she could tell everything felt like it was in place. "I'll bandage this to prevent it from moving too much for now," she said. "If you're careful I think it'll probably be alright in a few days." She pulled some clean, dry cloth from he bag where she carried all sorts of things and wrapped the wound tightly--not too tightly, but tight enough to restrict some movement.
"It looked as if they were heading Northwest. Once the storm passes we'll head in that direction and see what we can find, I guess," she told Anna. "We'll figure it out as we go. For now we should all just get some rest I think."

It had never occurred to him how odd it was that he couldn't remember the last nightmare he had, or ever waking up in the middle of the night. Even with his seemingly-fractured mind, Nairi appeared most at peace while he was sleeping. The voice couldn't reach him there. It was the only place where he felt in control, really in control, and despite how lonely a place it was he always felt a certain reluctance to leave.
Still, it wasn't his nature to rest very long. He'd gotten by on cat naps for a while now, and they were certainly refreshing enough. Maybe it was just another part of his strange behavior, or perhaps the sword, its talons sunk securely into ever fiber of his being, simply wouldn't allow him to dally too long. Already he was rousing, half-alert eyes flittering open. It'd only been a matter of minutes, but he felt like he'd spent hours in that place, alone, hidden from the voice. If only she could go there with me. That'd be perfect, I think. He grimaced at the thought and got to his feet, stretching with a slight yawn.

Anna sighed yet again. "I only have two extra rooms," she said. "One of them...one of them is Rafe's, the bed is very small, next to the crib. The other room is pretty bare except for the bed...I guess one of you could have my room and I could sleep out here, I don't imagine I'll actually get much sleep tonight."
Anna absently put the food she prepared on the table. The mushroom soup and rolls weren't much, but Anna couldn't see fit to make anything much more complicated right now.

Kirithis winced only a little as Kashan wrapped her shoulder, before she frowned. "Northwest? Do you think they're headed for Tirane? Enwar and Blaire are the only places I could think of where they'd go that's northwest of us, and I doubt it would be the former."
Because who kidnaps a child to a ranching community? It made no sense to her. Although, they could also be headed for Castle Tirane, which was slightly less likely than Blaire, and more likely than Enwar. Interesting..
"I won't be needing a bed," she said to Anna. "But thank you for your kindness. To be on the safe side, I think one of us should stay up and keep watch, even though it doesn't seem likely that anyone will attack this home again."

"That would be Northeast," Kashan said as tactfully as she could manage to Kirithis's questions. "They're probably heading further into Ardenbau. There are any number of small crevices where a person can get lost in this province. They looked to be traveling light from what little I could tell, which would imply either that they weren't going very far, or that they stowed their gear somewhere along the way. It's all just guesswork until this rain stops though."
"As for the rooms," she said to Anna. "Don't worry on it overmuch. Nairi and I are the traveling sort, so we're used to sleeping on the ground. We'll manage comfortably enough. Whatever the case, he's about to fall asleep on his feet I think, so wherever we're going to rest a bit let's decide it quickly."
She moved to Nairi's side and rested a hand on his shoulder to keep him from toppling over into unconsciousness where he stood. She thought it would be better if they had a more private room--not for that sort of thing, but because she really wanted to stretch her wings a bit. Badly.

"No, I'm fine... not sleepy at all." He might've looked like he was lying, but in reality, his words held some weight of truth. This had been how he'd sustained himself for months now. He was sore a lot of the time, but he never thought too much about it - his mind was sharp and that was usually good enough. Each snippet of sleep felt like hours in his head. Still, he was having trouble concentrating at the moment, and all this talk about where they were going next didn't really sound like anything to him. It was kind of like being submerged and trying to listen to a conversation above the water...
Kashan's touch seemed to steady him and he looked at her gratefully, despite the faint blush in his cheeks. "Still... a little rest never hurt anyone, I suppose. If every one is going to take a breather anyway." He almost seemed apologetic for his second wind, glancing at the others and then back to his companion. "You're probably pretty tired, right?"

Anna considered everything she had just heard here. All these places that those men could go with her son! Where was the most likely place they would take him? Why would they take him there?
Anna didn't know! She had no idea, but the others might, if they knew everything. If they knew Rafe's secret where would they take him? But how could they know? But why else would they take him?
Should Anna tell these people everything? Should she risk Rafe's secret, if it even was a secret anymore?
