Anna didn't respond to the woman next to her. All she could do was look in the distance where her son had been carried off. She knew, on some level, that to pass through the fire meant death, or at least serious injury, and that she wouldn't be able to go after Rafe either way.
"They...they took him," she breathed. Her legs suddenly went weak and her knees buckled and she began to drop to the ground.
Anna took no notice of anything as her knees gave out and she fell to the ground, just staring in the direction where Rafe was taken, just willing him to be brought back to her.

Kirithis could do nothing for the woman. Anna seemed to be in shock, and even as she tried to help the woman to her feet, her senses alerted her to Nairi.. Oh. Sh*t. Her eyes narrowed on him dangerously, watching, seeing the sword. Though she could not really feel it, she felt as if the thirst for blood washed over her from him and the weapon, making the hairs on her skin stand on end.
"Do not look upon me as if I am your enemy," she said. If she could keep him from Anna, perhaps the woman might recover from her shock long enough to realize the danger. "I know you not, and I have no intention of causing harm here. If you continue to approach me with ill intent, I will be forced to defend myself." Sh*t. Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t. Not good.. Not good at all.

Kashan had never actually seen Nairi go all bloodlusty before now, and she was fairly well sure she didn't like it. She also didn't like the way Nairi was stalking over to the woman he was supposed to be saving. She was torn. she narrowed her gaze as if she could will herself to see through the flames to see where they were heading with the baby--but she got little more than teary-eyed from the smoke and turned back to find Nairi still all...homicidal-like.
She put Nanai down again...and the cat seemed intent to make a play of chasing around the remaining bunnies--the least of our adventurers' worries for the moment.
"Nairi," she said, approaching behind him, and thinking better of it grabbed the wrist the sword was in and repeated herself. "Nairi? What are you doing?" She wasn't gripping TOO hard, but she did think it best to exert a little pressure on his wrist...to prevent him from attacking anyone if he didn't respond.

He blinked and all the color seemed to rush back into the world. Kashan's words had shaken the influence over him, and things were returning to normal... he wasn't quite sure where he was or what he was doing, but he could hear them talking again, could feel himself really "here." It was a terribly disorienting sensation that he never quite got used to - he dropped the sword carelessly, clapping a hand over his mouth and falling to one knee. It reminded him of a time where he'd fallen backwards into a lake. Suddenly the world had changed completely; you didn't know if you were rightside up, and you couldn't breath. He'd gotten sick then, and he usually did whenever the blade relinquished its hold. This time, though... he'd be okay...
After a moment of looking terribly ill, he gave a long, shuddering breath, aware of little else than Kashan's grip on him. He got to his feet, slowly as to not upset his stomach further, and turned to look at her. Her expression was far from approving, and he blushed in turn, looking as if he'd done something wrong but wasn't quite sure what. "Kashan? What is it?"

Anna closed her eyes and began to breathe deeply. More than anything she wanted to break down and cry and scream in anger and rage.
But she couldn't! Her son needed her, she had to figure out a way to follow the ones who took her son, and then find a way to get him back.
But first she had to make sure he had a home to come back to.
Anna got up and, without a word, walked resolutely over to the well, pulled up a bucketful of water and began dousing the flames.

[>>;; *forgot it was her turn* Whoops..]
Kirithis eyed Nairi for a moment longer, ignoring the pain in her shoulder for now. It hurt like it were part of Hell itself, but there were more important matters at hand, and as long as she didn't overstress (Read: move, or otherwise use) her shoulder and the injury itself, she should be fine. She had survived worse.
Her attention returned to Anna, who was dousing the flames, and she drew her wineskin, using the water stored in it to assist the woman. No way she was going to be able to lift a bucket full of water with one hand, and her wineskin was just small enough that she wouldn't need to use her other. Yet, that brought up the question of how she would refill it.. Ah.. Well, she would deal with that one when she got there.

Kashan measured her words. "You were...not yourself." And she could only hope that it would be so easy to return him to himself again if the situation repeated. "And there is a fire to put out."
The godess Klaire must have been smiling on them--either that or it was a freak coincidence, because no sooner had Kashan said the words than a heavy rain broke through, beginning to claim fire and fog alike.
Kashan did not care to get too waterlogged--her heavy garments always took forever to dry. And she felt terrible for the woman and wanted to help. She didn't know what use she would be, but Nairi, she knew, was a good fighter. Surely he would feel the same way...and she could be there to stop him should he have another episode--or whatever that was just now.
"Perhaps we can go inside," she said. "And work out some manner of plan for getting your child back. "We won't get anywhere in this weather, but at the very least it should slow down the kidnappers as well." She hoped Nairi didn't mind. She'd sort of decided on her own.

Oh, look... there was a fire. It was only a small distraction to him, however, stuck on Kashan's words. Not himself? What was that supposed to mean? His concern showed on his face, and when he knelt down to retreive his sword, he hestitated, removing the sheath from his back first and stowing the blade before picking it up. He wasn't sure why, exactly, but it just felt like the right thing to do. When he was through, there wasn't really much of a fire to put out anymore, and he was getting soaked. Nairi didn't particularly mind, but Kashan didn't sound so pleased.
He nodded in accordance with her idea, and still unsure of what he did and what to apologize for (yet still desiring to apologize), he put a hand to her cheek and offered a sad look. "Sorry for... you know." He hoped she did, anyway, since he didn't, and with that he turned and headed toward the house.

"I have to find my son," Anna declared with a set jaw. "I...I can't offer any of you anything to help me...I don't have much money, or anything valuable to trade, but I desperately need your help. I can't save my son without you..." She trailed off.
Anna shook her head. She had no right to expect these people, perfect strangers, to detour their own lives to save her son. They saved her life to be sure, but that was different than taking days, maybe more, to track an unknown force, with unknown powers to save a child they didn't know for a woman they didn't know.
"Thank you for saving my life," she said. "But I know I have no right to ask you to risk your lives any further. I will go after my son alone."

Kirithis shook her head at the woman, eyes stern. "Not if you actually want to see him again, you wont," she said. "Going alone would be very poorly thought out. Seriously. Three to one, two of which have swords, and another of which has magic. What do you have against that?"
She should have been working on a make-shift sling for her shoulder, but whatever she did, she would need the use of that arm, even if it hurt like hell to use it. Slap a band-aid on it and call it good, was her policy. Too bad they didn't have band-aids yet or she'd be more than good to go.
"Admit it," she said, voice softening. "You need our help, and I think that we're all more than willing to give it to you."

Kashan had taken to standing under the overhang where she could remain mostly dry for the moment before taking Nairi's hand and giving it a light squeeze before removing it. "It's in the past," she said, which was her way of telling him not to worry too much over it. It worried her, but he was himself now and that was all that was important.
"I probably won't be much help myself," she said. "But Nairi, at least, can fight. It's better than foolishly rushing in and getting yourself killed." And Kashan...well, Kashan would be there in case Nairi went all...weird and homicidal again.

Nairi had never officially consented to any of this, but Kashan knew he didn't really have to. He'd go wherever she did, and he'd do his best to protect her. That was enough, and possibly even too much, considering what happened - or threatened to happen - moments ago. He appeared to be lost in thought, offering only a small smile when Kashan squeezed his hand, his expression becoming vacant soon after.
He knew that there was something wrong with him, but he wasn't sure what. Unfortunately for him, the influence of his blade was so strong that he never once considered it to be a suspect, despite how strange wielding it made him feel. Never mind that it seemed to talk to him sometimes even though that was definitely his imagination running off on its own, and that sensation of vertigo whenever he dropped it or, sometimes, even thought about putting it down.
The youth blinked. There were plenty of warning signs here, weren't there? For once, he felt like he'd finally gotten hold of something, and in an instant it was gone. He blinked again, having decided that he had no idea what caused his behavior and would just worry about it later. Nairi sunk down against the wall, whistling and patting the ground to catch the attention of Nanai, who was running in from the rain.

Anna looked at these people who insisted on helping. Who had just saved her life and were now willing to risk everything to help her save her son. Despite how terrified she was over what had just happened, and over the possibility of losing Rafe forever, she could not help but be touched by how willing they were to aid her.
"Thank you all," Anna said. "I cannot thank you enough for this. However, I do not know how to proceed. I don't even know how to track those men who have taken Rafe."
Anna looked around at the three who had helped her, desperately hoping they would have some idea on how to proceed.

Kirithis smiled what she hoped was a comforting smile, finding that she was unsure of most things, but that she knew she wanted to help, and that was all that mattered. Now, how to proceed?
"The fog would have slowed them down," she said. "As would this rain. As far as tracking goes.. The ground should bear mud by now; I'm not a very skilled tracker, but I think that if we follow the direction they went in, the mud will show us their tracks."

"If all this rain doesn't wash it away," Kashan said. "Foregoing that, I'd say we go in the direction they went--if we hit a town before we find them--I'm sure a group that peculiar would stick out and we'll ask around. Whatever the case, they'll be slowed, but so are we. All this rain and fog kept your house from bursting into flame, but it means we're stuck here a bit. Might as well take the time to prepare for what may turn into a long journey and try to get some rest." Anna might not be able to rest, but she should at least make the effort. "Those men kidnapped your child, but didn't kill him--for some reason or other they want him alive--you can take comfort in that at least--I don't think your baby is in any immediate danger aside from probably being a bit frightened." Understatement, maybe but it might calm the woman a bit. "They'll be held up by the weather too, so I doubt we'll fall much behind for a bit of waiting."
Well, at least Kashan had deductive reasoning on her side--of course, she'd had her share of bandits--having kind of/sort of been one for a good number of years...not a good one mind you, but travel in the company of brigands and you're BOUND to learn SOMETHING about their ways...especially with an overactive mind like the mind of mechanic.
