A tavern/brothel, Dark Desires is run by a strong male Nymandine Elf named Eligor, who uses slave labor as his waiters and waitresses. As well, if a waiter or waitress catches a patron's eye, for a small fee they may have them in one of the upstairs rooms for an hour's time. The slaves learn quickly not to resist or they will be punished harshly. It is said that none who meet there do so for a good purpose.
Dark Desires is two stories, with one set of stairs that leads to the upstairs room. This set of stairs are said to be the "Ascent of Hopelessness" for any slave brought up that way. There are five rooms upstairs, all having little more than a bed and chains on the walls.

Aubrey swallowed, keeping pretty blue eyes to the floor as he delivered a drink to yet another customer. That long, almost golden blonde hair of his, having been combed through by his fingers, covered one eye, as if he were hiding behind it. This was the perfect answer, because it was true. He hid, not wanting to draw attention to his pretty features.
The young human wore little other than ratty clothing that showed his slender, pale form where there were rips or tears. He tried his hardest to mend his clothes when he got the chance, but it was hard to get thread and a needle for such a purpose when his Master was around. Yet, when he could, he did his best to be quick and close the holes as fast as he could.
He fidgeted slightly as he returned to the bar, setting the tray where another slave would pick it up to fill it again. He could feel a few eyes on him, and it made him nervous..
Please, Inve, let me make it through today.. he prayed. He didn't want to suffer the Ascent; he was merely a virgin, and he was only a child! Well.. sort of.. He hadn't yet come of age, at least, and the thought of having to suffer the Ascent and the events that were sure to follow.. It scared him.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. It was a wonder the fourteen-year-old hadn't started crying again. The first night he was here, he had cried.. His father was dead, and now he was here.. With a second steadying breath, he returned to work..

Eligor watched the boy with growing frustration. He was rapidly running out of patience with this boy! So nervous, so afraid of the Ascent that he was too distracted to work properly!
Eligor often thought of bringing the boy up the stairs himself, if only to get it over with!
"Boy!" Eligor called. "Stop dallying and get back to work! We have important people coming in today, and I'll not have you spilling drinks!"

Aubrey visibly jumped, surprised and embarrassed, and it was surprising he didn't yelp. "Y-yes, sir," he answered, taking the newly filled tray of drinks and forcing himself to try and breath steadily. If he panicked, he'd only make mistakes, and if he made mistakes.. Well, whatever would happen, there was likely to be pain involved.
Offering a weak smile to one of the guests, he set down the ordered drink in front of the customer and then moved on. Fear of spilling the drinks and incurring Eligor's wrath seemed to cause him to be much more careful as he moved, a grace and skill that was definitely not with him normally showing through, the drinks on his tray not even faultering in his hands, let alone spilling.
Don't panic.. don't panic.. Just breathe.. that's it, Aubrey.. just calm down and work your hardest.. he thought to himself, a sort of mental pep-talk to keep him from breaking down. He was new at this life, had seen his father killed before his very eyes, and now there were so many new fears to be had.. He hoped he'd make it through all of this alive..

Eligor sighed as he turned away from watching that incompetent boy! That fool was bound for another lashing later, undoubtedly. Eligor wondered why he was the one who got stuck with that burden! What was he thinking purchasing him?
"You're obsessing, Eligor," a voice said at the bar.
Eligor turned to see a tall Nymandine with bristling muscles under his leather armor, holding his large battle axe.
Raechen never went anywhere without his battle axe, just in case he felt the need to kill something, or hack off someone's limbs.
Eligor liked Raechen, he was one of Eligor's best customers, always spending a lot of money for drinks as well as all other services. Raechen was the only one who ever paid for extra time in the rooms upstairs, time he spent breaking some of the more difficult slaves, or further breaking those who were already broken.
"Raechen," Eligor said shaking hands with the large Nymandine. "What brings you here? I thought you were running some campaigns for Lord Turant."
"Those campaigns never take long," Raechen said dismissively. "Anyway, why are you obsessing?"
"I'm not obsessing," Eligor said. "I'm simply trying to think about how I could get my money's worth with that boy. So far he's little use as a waiter."
Raechen smiled. "Perhaps you could find...other uses for him," he suggested.
Eligor sighed. "As nervous and jumpy as the boy is no patrons have been interested in using him that way," he said.
Raechen gave another coy smile. "Perhaps I could...train him for you," he offered.
Eligor smiled. "You are very clever my friend," he said. "But the fee remains the same."
Raechen gave the boy another look. Then he turned back to Eligor. "Deal."

Aubrey refused to look towards Eligor, afraid that he might get in trouble for not working again. No, he would work his hardest, and try his best to not think about the troubles he had. In a way, he almost liked being in Iodar.. The Nymandine had an almost.. exotic quality about them, something that one might expect to see when on a vacation to some remote place.
Yet, at the same time, this was no vacation, and he would not be able to go home if it ever did end. He brushed a strand of hair behind his ear as he offered a weak smile to one patron, still hiding behind his hair for the most part, but wanting to be able to see with at least one crystal blue eye.

"Boy!" Eligor called toward Aubrey. "Come here! I have a...special customer for you."
Raechen smiled a wicked smile and pulled out his whip.

Aubrey jumped in surprise, and turned to face Eligor with obvious worry, moreso for what a 'special customer' might entail. However, crystal blue eyes- or, at least, the one that was visible- caught sight of the other man, this Raechen fellow, and he froze in place, eyes as wide as saucers as the tray dropped from his hand.
He didn't seemed phased at all by the glass that broke, partially because it was only one but mostly because he had caught sight of that wicked smile, one that sent shivers of fear up his spine, and the weapon that Raechen held. His nostrils flared out of what was pure terror as his slight form took a step back.

Eligor sighed in frustration! That fool boy just dropped another glass and Eligor would have to clean it up because he knew Raechen wouldn't wait all night. Eligor could see Raechen was already getting anxious by the way he was caressing his whip. Besides, as jumpy as the boy was, if Eligor ordered him to clean up the glass, he'd only screw it up again. Eligor had never thought it possible for anyone to be that stupid, even a human! And now he was standing there staring, looking like he might want to run, did he honestly think he'd get away if he ran? Idiot!
"What are you staring at, boy?" Eligor demanded, pounding the bar to make his point. "I told you to come here! Now come!"

Aubrey winced as Eligor shouted at him, trembling faintly. He wanted to run, to try and escape this living nightmare he'd so suddenly woken up in, but he knew it would do nothing. Yet, at the same time, he would not make himself walk towards Eligor and the frightening man with the whip. He couldn't do it.
He felt frozen in place, staring at the whip with terror and acknowledgement at what this meant. The Ascent. His heart raced in his chest, his breathing became fast, shallow, like a frightened mouse, and as much as he wanted to yell and throw the pieces of the broken glass to keep Eligor from trying to make him go.. He couldn't do anything, so frozen with fear was he..

Eligor had had enough! He stepped toward Aubrey, but Raechen held out his arm to stop him, using his other hand to drop some ka on the table.
"No, Eligor," Raechen said, cradling his whip. "Allow me."
Eligor smiled a wicked smile. Fine, let Raechen get the boy himself, Aubrey would have liked it much better had he cooperated.
Raechen walked over to the trembling boy and roughly tied his whip around Aubrey's neck so as to drag him upstairs.
"Come boy," Raechen whispered with a wicked leer. "It won't be so bad." Raechen chuckled. "That's a lie, it will be that bad."

Aubrey cried out, hands moving to the whip around his neck, eyes watering quickly, though no tears dropped. He tugged at the whip, panic evident in his features, and tried to struggle free, wanting to even slow the advance up the stairs if he couldn't escape.
"N-n!!" he couldn't make the word come out, the whip tight around his neck and his fear choking him just as tightly. He kicked and struggled and refused to walk or even stand, wanting so very badly to maybe make Raechen lose interest in him.. Anything to avoid what was sure to come!

Raechen tightened his grip around the struggling boy's neck as he yanked the boy towards the stairs! If necessary he would choke the boy unconscious!
"Stop struggling!" Raechen snapped. "You're of no use to Eligor as a serving slave! If I were to kill you he wouldn't charge me much! So make this easier for yourself, or I will make it much harder!"

Aubrey opened his mouth to scream, but only a strangled choking sound escaped him. Tears flowed down his reddened cheeks now, and even though he stopped struggling, he still fought against the whip around his neck, trying to loosen it so that he could breathe.
Such a pretty face in such distress.. It was sure to be a cruel pleasure, if not a saddening sight.

Raechen pulled Aubrey up the stairs, tightening the whip even more, not out of necessity, just because he wanted to.
Eligor smiled wickedly as he watched Raechen drag the boy up the stairs to the available room. Eligor watched as Raechen tossed Aubrey in the room, walked in behind him and closed the door!
