(I'd like to apologize to Arion for cluttering the Dark Desires topic with stuff that is no longer set in the tavern. We'll stop soon, promise. >.<)
Jaiden saw it as more of an inconvenience than the start of an adventure, but in this case they were one in the same. They had no real chance to make it to the northern border in time and the centaurs would offer some protection from the Nymandine, although they might not be too happy to see them wandering through the lands either. He'd much rather take his bets with Garumeth, though. He laughed faintly at Aubrey as they changed direction, amused by how quickly his attitude seemed to shift.
"You're a lot cuter when you don't look so depressed, you know." He winked at the boy, grinning.

Aubrey flushed again, following the other quickly, almost like a happy puppy, yet now embarrassed. "I'm okay looking.. I guess.." he replied softly. He brushed his hair behind his ears with his fingers, not really even considering the action as he revealed his pretty face. He was modest, this was for certain, but the movement signified, subconsciously for him, that he was comfortable with this man.
Speaking of which..
"Does this mean that I get to know your name now..?" he asked, tilting his head to the side curiously. Not often in his life had he known kind people such as Jaiden, and he was hoping to learn the other young man's name.

Jaiden like that modesty in Aubrey. He seemed like the kind of kid that would've been that way to begin with, so it lightened his spirits to know that some of his personality survived whatever hell he went through. Despite being an alcoholic, ego-maniacal jerkface, his father never approved of the slave trade, and his son had grown up much the same. Aubrey deserved to be free, regardless of what people were willing to pay for him... speaking of which, he was completely broke. He grimaced.
"Jaiden. I was raised family Valenri, but I don't have much of a relationship with my parents anymore. Imagine that." He couldn't wait to leave this place behind in favor of the rolling countryside of Garumeth, and if he remembered correctly, their capital was positively huge. They'd never be found there unless they wanted to be. "I used to live in Blaire, but now I spend my time wandering around pretending to be a vampyre and saving boys from life-threatening situations."

Aubrey flushed again, but this time, a small smile crept onto his face as well. "Jaiden.." he tested it. He liked the way it sounded.. Like a playful nymph or a gleeful muse. It was pretty even with its masculinity.
"I'm Aubrey," he replied with a small smile. "I used to live in Telsey, but my father and I.." He trailed off, before deciding that, being as Jaiden had just saved his life (or at least his happiness/sanity), that he could tell him this, even if it still hurt. "My father was a merchant. We were going to Yareth for trade, but we were attacked, and, uhm.. He.. didn't.. make it."
His eyes seemed watery again, but he did not cry; he'd cried so much that he wasn't sure if he could anymore. No, he would never see his father again, but that didn't mean that he had to see his mother ever again, either. He hoped she was happy that her family was gone; she was always too concerned about her love affairs and keeping them secret..

He actually had to try to surpress an outburst concerning how insane Aubrey's father must have been to think he could deal with the Nymandine, but that would've been rude and not terribly helpful, considering he was dead now. Jaiden bit his lip. "Sorry to hear that. My father was into some exotic stuff, but it was a lot safer than Black Gold. He took me to Xsenzar once..." He wouldn't normally be proud of something like that, but hell, the trip pretty much shaped his whole life. He would probably still be dancing on his parents' strings if he hadn't gone. "The Centaur are a lot more friendly than the Dracon, though. You have to do a yard of paper work before you can even set foot on the docks in Xsenzar."
He realized that he was rambling a bit and actually blushed himself, scratching the back of his neck. With Aubrey around, he felt like a little kid again, which was somewhat pleasant, even if he was already missing the feel of a Ka pouch on his hip.

Aubrey smiled again as he listened, and then laughed at the paper work comment. He liked Jaiden already, aside from the fact that the young man had saved his life and future. He was witty and fun, and he understood a lot of things. He hadn't inquired as to Aubrey's mother, which made the blonde feel much better already.
"I think that, someday, I would like to see the rest of the world," he said quietly, blushing. It felt silly to him to say such a thing, but it was true; he wanted to see everything there was to see, to learn about everything there was. And next time he was in Iodar, assuming he ever came back, that is, he was going to be stronger so that he could protect himself and anyone with him..

It was the sort of thing he would expect someone like Aubrey to say, and he couldn't help but smile when he did. Kids always wanted to see the world, and there was nothing wrong with that, though he had a feeling they'd be leaving Iodar behind for a long time (if it could be helped). Eventually that smile vanished, and he looked to the sky with concern. "We need to pick up the pace a bit. Once we're safely inside Garumeth borders, then we can see about sitting down for a break. We can talk all you want then."

Aubrey nodded, quieting down and doing as he was told. He was a good listener, and had he not been terrified, he would have made an increasingly good slave, as horrible as it sounded. Yet, there was very little that would make him willingly be anyone's servant or slave ever again. He knew the terrors now, and he knew now- thanks to Jaiden- that he could live as he pleased.
He nodded only in response, thinking about what it would be like in Garumeth, and whether or not the centaurs would wish to help them. He hoped they would; they were going to need things like food, water, and other supplies if they were going to survive for very long..
[next post can totally be a new thread in Garumeth and be a time skip ^^]

Delavo groaned as consciousness slowly worked it's way back to him. He tried to bring his hand to his head, but found his hands were both tied down, as were his feet! He opened his eyes to see only darkness. What little light glinted from under, what appeared to be a door, other than that, Delavo saw nothing.
"Wha--? What's happening? Where am I?" Delavo demanded out loud. "Kiana? Kiana are you there?"
"Your freak of a lover is nowhere," a voice said out of the darkness. "As are you. You are no where, you are nothing, you will learn that quickly, or you will die."
Delavo's heart thumped in terror as a whip suddenly cracked across his bare chest! It was then Delavo realized he was completely naked! He cried out in pain and terror as the whip cracked on him again and again!
"You will learn quickly," the voice said again.

Delavo was hustled out of the room, chains holding his wrists in front of him. Finally, he saw light again, he could see where he was.
A tavern! He was in a tavern and inn? What madness!
Still naked, Delavo was hustled down the stairs of this inn to the tavern proper, where crowds of people looked up. Delavo saw that most of them were Nymandine elves, it was in fact two such Nymandine who were hustling him down the stairs in front of all these people.
People who were seeing him naked! Humiliation burned at his cheeks! None had ever seen him naked unless he had wanted them to. To be treated this way, trotted out like some sort of prize at an auction, it was infuriating.
Iodar! He had been kidnapped and brought to Iodar, as had Kiana. The Nymandine were famous for hating Psyons, and anyone who associated with Psyons. If he was being treated this way, he could not imagine how Kiana was being treated! The horrible things they must be doing to her.
Delavo contained his anger, he learned quickly in that dark room not to be defiant. He would have no choice but to bide his time.
But his anger remained, and stewed.
Delavo saw a large Nymandine step forward, give him a look, then turn to the crowd. All of them sitting at their tables silently, some looking eager, others looking bored.
It was then Delavo realized this was an auction, and he was the merchandise.
Delavo quickly glanced around, if he was for auction Kiana must be as well. Perhaps he could catch a glimpse of her. She must be here some where.
But Delavo didn't see her, he saw no one dragged out for auction except himself. There were servants in this tavern but no one Delavo knew, certainly not Kiana.
"Now, who will start the bidding?" Eligor called out.
Delavo watched and listened as the bidding began, it lasted for minutes. Only minutes in which they put a price on him, argued and haggled until finally it was settled at 200 ka.
"Sold, to Warlord Zin," Eligor called out gesturing to a large Nymandine male with a wicked scar running down his face, and an evil look in his eyes.
Delavo was hustled forward toward Warlord Zin. Zin gestured to his side and two of his own people grabbed Delavo and dragged him outside and threw him into a carriage!
