That blush was downright adorable to Syn, and she couldn't help but grin mischievously before she reached across the table and pinched one of those cheeks. Not hard, mind you, but in a strangely gentle way. Anyone else would have received a painful pinch, but she couldn't bring herself to such force on Tristan's soft flesh.. It felt nice beneath her fingers, and she vaguely wanted to touch it again sometime. Hurting him would cause a sharp decrease in the chances of that.
"You're sweet," she said, voice matching her touch.. a strange sort of tenderness, almost completely disarmed.. She was a wild tiger, yet she was also a gentle cat. "Now, then. Where do you propose I find myself such a man?" Her smirk turned into a slightly teasing grin, playful and yet daring, wondering what he might say, and all the more excited. So much anticipation.. Where had it come from? She remembered none of this in such a casual, social situation from ever before..
So very strange..

It was strange, strange how idle chatter and awkward conversation could turn into something like this. Maybe he shouldn't have said anything... shouldn't have suggested, without the slightest trace of subtlety, that he was the man that Syn needed in her life. The anticipation was certainly there. He could feel it like a fine mist, jolting his heart, quickening his pulse with each moment. This is where he was supposed to have some charming comment, right? Something to win her over. Where can she find a man like that...? Um... come on Tristan, think of something...
There was plenty of other embarassing stories about his upbringing that didn't come up over a discussion about alcohol. He wasn't apt to mention them now, but he couldn't help but think of one at the moment. To make a long story short, he was about twelve years old and had no idea what to think of the opposite sex (his parents gave confusing and sometimes conflicting advice on the matter). There came a time not entirely unlike this one, and when the time for delicate words and swooning came, he couldn't find them. He just...
Kissed her. It was as simple as that, as complex as that. It didn't matter that she was sitting across the table - he was halfway across it, supporting himself with steady arms. For those without words, there was always action, and it was like an instinct for him... he opened his eyes, shocked, and pulled back just enough so that he could look into her own. What a scene this must've been. He knew everyone was staring at them, and Syn was probably about to end him...

Ah, but what was this? Surprise marked her to a degree, not nearly as much as the slight disorientation from the sudden kiss, and even then it was not as much as-- what was that?-- that made her cheeks darken with a flush, not dissimilar to a young maid. There was a moment when it seemed as if she certainly might end him, but then, a smile, more a mix between a smile and a smirk, flickered across those lips as she looked into violet eyes with crimson ones.
"Oh, really..?" she asked, voice definitely a little breathless before she leaned foreward to fill that slight gap again, pressing her lips against his with such surprising tenderness that one would think her a completely gentle person.. And that was true, to an extent. She was gentle with Tristan, unable to be anything else with him. Unable to be harmful, cruel, deadly.. Why was that, she wondered vaguely.
When she pulled back, her cheeks were still flushed, but her eyes glittered with something new.. Something like.. glee? No.. But not far off. Happiness, definitely, but with more to it than that..

She actually kissed me back. Poor Tristan could've fainted right there, but then he would've looked even more ridiculous than he did stretched halfway across a tavern table, sharing a kiss with a Nymandine woman he'd met earlier today. Oh, but it felt so nice, not just Syn's lips (they were so soft) but the ever-so-rare feeling of returned affection. Blushing furiously, he retreated carefully as to not knock over any glasses or injure himself, unwilling to tempt total embarassment. He never took his eyes off Syn, and once he was settled back into his seat, he sighed faintly and licked his lips. Where did they go from here, he wondered? If she kissed him back, didn't that mean...? He'd never really made it to this point before.
"Thank you," he said in the smallest voice possible. He didn't sound ashamed, just... surprised. His slender fingers nervously pulled hair behind his ears, ears that she had touched and found acceptable, ears which had also turned a bit red at the moment. "I... I'd like to do that some more, if we could..."

And, just like on any normal person, Syn smiled, showing off those pearly whites in a way that was, for once, not threatening. It almost made her cheeks hurt, smiling like such when she hadn't for so long. Her eyes held that same happiness, but with an almost predatory look to them.. More alive than anything. Her eyes had always held life, but now, they seemed alive on their own, excitement flaring up in them and making them gleam with a sort of approval that was not motherly in the slightest, as one might expect such a look to be.
"Really?" she asked, coy and yet with her own cheeks still bearing added color. "I don't see why not. I think it's cute how you look embarrassed, but not quite.." Her voice was lower as she said this, and she winked, enjoying his company and himself beyond all comprehension. Was this what the mad poets and the drunken bards raved about? Was this love? It sounded such a foreign word to her.. Was it really possible..?

Wow... not only did she think he was cute when he looked (not quite) embarassed, but she actually agreed to his meek proposition, or at least didn't seem opposed to it. Why hadn't she brushed him off yet, or killed him? Things just didn't make sense, but damn it, she tasted good, and her lips sent electricity through his veins. "Alright," he responded with that barely-there tone, blinking. How exactly should he go about this? Was there standard procedure for this sort of thing? After a moment of pondering, he cleared his throat, vacated his side of the table, and joined her own, turning so he could face her.
His approach was almost comical, but one could tell he was trying. He'd only done the kissing thing twice before in his life - on the first the girl had run away crying, and after the second he felt incredibly foolish and more than a little dirty. Syn didn't make him feel like that at all... he felt excited, eager, alive. It was quite the sensation. The young Deus swallowed gently, worried his bottom lip just slightly, and put his hands on the Nymandine's shoulders, carefully leaning forward until his mouth rested on her own.

A twinkle of amusement glittered in Syn's eyes, but her smile remained genuine. Tristan was indeed trying, and she saw that. As she turned to face him, her smile faded to something less amused and more serious, returning the kiss as one hand lighted gently on his cheek. How long since she'd done this..? She had kissed the same 'gentlemen' who had been after her hand, but then had killed him.. She didn't count that one.
Aside from that, probably never. She knew how to, and she'd seen it done, but her life had been full of obedience until she left, and none of it involved anything even remotely fun at the time. When she pulled away, it was only to breathe, and she only pulled away enough that their lips didn't touch, but their foreheads now did as she gently nuzzled his nose with her own.

Fun? For Tristan, this was terrifying, and one had to wonder if he'd live until the end of his days constantly in fear of screwing up matters of romantic importance. After all, how well he could manage a kiss could certainly affect whatever relationship they may or may not have down the road, and he wanted to tend to that possibility as carefully as possible.
Things seemed to be going alright, at least. He too had felt a bit short of breath, not even bothering to consider that he could take in air through his nose. No, this took far too much concentration for that. The young Deus enjoyed the small nuzzlings, a sound rumbling in his throat that was definitely purr-like, if not close enough to the actual thing. Eventually he ducked his head a bit, allowing his lips to find the enticing arc of her neck, speaking softly in between trailing kisses. "Maybe... we should... go somewhere... more private?" He didn't have anything sinister in mind, but people were probably watching, and that made him feel kind of weird.

Syn gave a gentle nod, so as to not cause a collision between their skulls. She knew that people were watching.. She'd stopped listening to what they were saying when Tristan kissed her, though, but now she tuned her ears in to catch nothing in particular other than the gossip that the barmaids tossed back and forth. They must have each spoken another language, because that was what they were using, but Syn understood nonetheless.
"We should.." she said. Her own mind was not on anything in particular other than that she liked Tristan's kisses and he was quite charming and she rather liked his company. She had found that she liked that purr he gave too much, and fully intended to make him reproduce the sound later..

Being the already terribly self-conscious person that he was, the whole situation made him feel quite uncomfortable, even with the pure, undilluted bliss that he felt from Syn's attentions. Then again, if they were to just stroll up the counter right now and demand an inn room, that might just make it more awkard, but sometimes things had to get worse to get better. Now that he had the other's acceptance of his proposal, he wasn't sure how to proceed - he stared into her gorgeous eyes, the sight of which seized his heart with something that easily could've been love (if he knew how that felt), looking for answers.
In the end, all he could really do was tilt his head back, towards the stairs which lead up towards the "private place" that he'd alluded to, a questioning look in his features that seemed to say "Should we?"

Syn's eyes followed the tilt of his head casually, as if there was nothing remotely suspicious going on, nothing of great concern, and then returned them in one move, nodding with the motion. She stood gracefully, yet casually, continuing to remain inconspicuous even to those who were watching and gossiping. She walked-- no, glided-- to the counter and spoke with one of the maids there, finding amusement in how the girl paled so quickly at her presence. Ka and a key were exchanged, and Syn said something that was hard to tell from the table, before the girl's eyes widened and Syn returned to Tristan, a sly smile gracing her lips.

Tristan hadn't even heard what she said and he was already blushing. He wasn't blessed with Syn's excellent hearing, but judging by the reaction of the girl behind the counter and what he knew about his new Nymandine friend (or where they more than friends, now?), it was either a threat or something... improper. The Deus got to his feet as she returned, lifting his belongings to his shoulder, a somewhat suspicious look in those amethyst eyes. "What'd you tell her that scared her so bad?"

That sly smile remained on Syn's lips as she looked at Tristan with crimson eyes. "Nothing.. I just told her that most Nymandine know other languages, too," she said, winking and leading the way up the stairs. "At any rate, it's very bad for one's karma to try and gossip about people while they're within hearing range anyways."
Not that it was easy to do so with Syn anyways.. Nymandine ears made it hard for her not to hear, regardless of how far away one was. It was probably just easier for one to just avoid it altogether, or to speak telepathically if they were psions.

Well, Tristan was certainly impressed, if not a little frightened. It was a valuable lesson to learn, and good cause to break his bad habit of talking to himself. Even though he felt a good degree of affection towards Syn, somethings you just wanted to keep to yourself. "She probably thought you were going to bite her throat out, or something..." He couldn't help noticing that she still wore that expression of shock as they passed by, heading up the stairs, his heart beginning to race as they climbed. Once they'd reached the top, he was nervously winding some of that pretty blonde hair around his fingers, looking at the Nymandine with uncertainty. "So... which room is it?"

Syn almost laughed at that, finding that it was probably very true. Poor girl. Ah, well.. She shouldn't be gossiping about customers anyways. Once they reached the top, she tilted her head and looked around them, before walking towards a door. "This should be it," she said, thinking, unless for some spiteful reason the girl lied.. but didn't voice it.
Unlocking the door, she was pleased to find a fair-looking room, nothing too fancy, but nowhere near shabby, either. She smiled at Tristan and winked as she gestured inside. "After you."
