At this, Syn could not restrain a genuine grin from crossing her lips and flashing her teeth in a way that was not threatening for once. "You killed your fair share," she said. "Besides, I've probably forgotten most of the steps anyways. I'd be willing to bet that Iodarian dances are far different that most others."
She failed to mention that she'd learned many types of dances as a girl, as well as the fact that she adored dancing to an extent that she told none, just in case it might be used against her. Ah, but if he were to offer, she would more than likely accept, of course. It just depended on when and where. Here and now would be.. more than interesting, with the way that the serving girl kept shooting them nervous glances.

"If I didn't know better, I'd say that it sounded like you were trying to back out. I'm sure the steps aren't all that different, and that you could probably figure them out, but if you aren't sure..." Tristan feigned disinterest and lowered his gaze, looking into his glass. Although it was fun to tease her, there was still a part of his mind that had a feeling she'd go berserk because of it. Maybe that's what was so alluring about her... that sense of risk that always persisted, even though they were getting along so well now. "I guess I could find someone else to dance with. Maybe the serving girl?"

Syn was about to ptrotest, about to deny that she was backing out, but Tristan's serving girl comment made her laugh first. "No, I think she'd think that I would eat her or something if she accepted," she replied. And then, with a slightly teasing shrug, she added, "I suppose you'll just have to settle with me."
Gah, what was she doing?! Getting along was one thing, despite being very rare for her, but dancing now? Sweet gods, smite her now.. What would happen? She did enjoy Tristan's company.. Killing him, even just hurting him a little, would be a shame and dampen her mood no matter what he did. Perhaps he truly was a friend now..? Frightening aspect, that. But, not unexciting.

Tristan sniggered softly. "That's too bad. I think I can get over it, though." He was starting to think of her more and more as Syn, and soon found it hard to even associate the word "Nymandine" with her because of all the negative connotations that usually went with it. She fought like a devil, but he never once imagined that they'd be sharing time like this, especially not on the discussion of dancing. The idea made him giddy, but at the same time, a little nervous. There were times in his adolescence that hormones made it very hard to dance with the opposite sex, and to be perfectly honest, things hadn't changed all that much - he was still a kid. Syn, however, was very much a woman... a thousand years his senior. That was a whole new kind of nervous for him, but he was trying his best to look brave. "So... shall we start, or do you want to find somewhere private so you can practice a little first?"

Syn snorted her amusement, sucked on a canine with her tongue. "Well, that depends," she began. "On whether or not you can keep up with me without practice." Oh, she was a tricky one, and yet, she found that of all the other sentient beings out there, she rather enjoyed Tristan's company. She didn't usually care for Elves, Humans died too quickly to really make friends with, and Dwarves.. Well, she'd never really visited the mountains. Then there were Romari and Pomira, and she rarely met any of those, but those she had, she hadn't cared for much.
All in all, this was turning out to be a fairly nice day. Kill a few zombies, make a new friend, dance a little.. Wasn't that what life was all about?

"Please. I get practice every time I go out on the field." Actually, now that he mentioned it, there was an odd sort of graceful symmetry to the way he fought; it wasn't exact or blatantly obvious, but there were definitely some similarities between his fighting style and the more common formal dances of this region. He winked playfully at her. "It was one of my favorite things to do growing up... believe me, I haven't forgotten, and I'm not worried about whether or not I can handle you."

Syn couldn't help but smirk a little, a glitter in her eyes that was friendly more than anything else. "Well then," she said, standing from her seat and offering a hand. It seemed to be when she stood that that natural feline grace of hers stepped into play once more, that panther-like air about her exotic and yet wild and untamed. "Shall we dance?"

Even though they'd been engaging in friendly banter for a bit now, he still couldn't help but blush when he fit his hand snugly into her own, lifting himself from his seat. He felt very, very aware of the people looking at them, the serving girl who'd tell this story for years to come, but for perhaps the first time in his life, he didn't really care. His other hand found its way to her waist, his movements comfortable and natural... he talked a big game about his dancing, but maybe he was being truthful with that? "Shall I lead, then?" The deus kept his voice soft yet sincere, having totally switched gears since standing. It was quite a bit different from the awkward, embarassed Tristan that she was most familiar with.

As Syn's own hand moved to rest upon Tristan's shoulder, she smiled. Well, here was a sight to see, alright.. A deus and a Nymandine, about to dance in the middle of a tavern, to no music that she could hear (and she trusted her hearing more than most things). If she had been any less of.. well, her, she might have been embarrassed, might have flushed and giggled, or been her usual stubborn self and said no.
Yet, as it were, she was a very bold woman, and people's opinions had stopped mattering to her almost a century ago. "Lead on," she replied with a nod and almost a courtsy. She found herself rather liking this change in Tristan, finding that it was rather.. charming? Well, that too, but she couldn't find the proper word.. It was exciting, though, this change. Mysterious.. Interesting.

He could never completely escape his Albian nature, regardless of how hard he tried. It was in moments like this that it bloomed, and despite the jeers he could hear around him, the gasp of surprise from the serving staff, he knew that he could keep going as long as he didn't lose his concentration. He found it in her eyes, something to focus on as his body seemed to make all the steps of its own accord, well-practiced and talented. Sure, it was a little awkward to watch her so intently, but his more liberated side demanded that he keep going, and it was the only way. Besides, Syn had rather pretty eyes, and it certainly wasn't hard.
Tristan had pointy ears of his own, but he'd learned in his childhood to not always rely on them to lead you in dance - sometimes you had nothing but heartbeats to go off, and they could be tricky sometimes. Thankfully, the Nymandine was coming through on her boasts, and she was an easy partner. He'd gotten a little more comfortable, apparently... his arm was halfway around her waist now, though he didn't seem to notice.

Ah.. Now this was a dance! Just as Tristan watched her eyes, so she watched his own. When two danced with such grace, such a beautiful ease, it truly was a sight to see, especially when you consider that the two were of completely different decent. Jeers and gasps meant nothing now.. All that mattered was in this fluid movement, from one step to the next, moving as one.
Whether she noticed his arm half around her waist or not, she made no show of it. It was almost like a game.. Keep your eyes in your partner's, and keep moving with them. It was a rather enjoyable game, that was for certain. Syn moved with that natural grace and ease, ever aware of each step, each footfall.. She certainly had been underrating herself before, and it looked like Tristan had done the same to himself.. Very interesting indeed, but not unpleasant.

It was exhilerating - far more so than fighting zombies, in any case. Hell, he'd seen a few kill themselves before. This was much more of a challenge, and there was more at risk as well... Syn wouldn't think too much of him if he talked a big game and couldn't back it up, but when all was said, Tristan was far better on his feet than with a weapon. Though he wasn't aware of much besides his dancing partner, he did notice that the distant snickering and the weight of critical eyes had vanished. Not surprising. You could only pass off true skill as a mere amusement for so long before you found yourself enraptured, regardless of the act. There'd been quite a few times where he found himself hypnotized by heroic fighters, but his dancing had sent a good share of people into their own trances.
Sensing the end of this silent song, the Deus turned up the flourish as well as his pace. When they'd finally finished, his face was flushed, still intently focused on her own, with both arms - wait, arms? - around the Nymandine's waist. He seemed sincerely oblivious to this, still somewhat lost in Syn's eyes, and fighting simultaneous urges; one to burst out laughing, not because he found it terribly amusing but simply because of how happy he felt, and one to kiss her. Hard. That was dancing for you... he'd never known anything else that could stoke the fire of passion so quickly. Still weighing his options, he merely smiled, slightly out of breath.

So light.. Everything felt light. Weightless. The dance ended easily, yet Syn was sad to see it go so soon. It had ended with perfect timing, neither running too long, nor too short.. Still, the Nymandine could have standed for it to last forever, to be fair. She smiled in return, winked mischievously, that almost devious, yet playfully so, glitter in her eyes. She made no motion to remove herself from his arms, not in any real hurry.
"You really are quite skilled on your feet, Tristan," she said. It was a moment before she did pull away, cheeks not red, but slightly violet, barely visible with her skin so dark. "I admit that I underestimated you. I also admit that I regret not dancing more often.. That was quite fun."

"I'm a pretty good singer, too. The curse of an Albian upbringer, I suppose." Tristan slinked back into his seat, glad to find his glass of water and taking a generous portion of it in one go. He was aware now, or at least more than he was before, of all the people looking at them... he couldn't help but blush a bit, although he wasn't going to let it get to him like he usually would. He'd danced with a Nymandine and lived, and not only that, but put on a good showing himself. He was proud.
"Well, that was fun for a bit. Perhaps it's time you suggested something for us to do? After all, we have a whole night ahead of us, though I guess we could just dance the whole time..."

The Nymandine woman returned to her own seat, drinking her juice and smiling almost coyly at Tristan. "Well, if it's my turn to suggest something," she began shrugging gently. "It might be more hunting.. Or maybe stargazing later. I haven't decided yet. Either is fun to me."
She truly was a wild woman, and none could really dispute it.
