Gah, sorry, I'm affraid i'll be taking a slightly longer leave of absense... you see by july 9th i have to read the entier iliad, a few chapters of "the great war and modern memory," and the entierty of hecabe, phoenecian women, orestes, antigone, two versions of oedipus tyrannus, and thyests. as well as familiarizing myself with two poetry anthologies.
that being said, for the next week i will be much slower in posting, i will still post, just at a slower rate.
aditionaly, from july 9th to the 14th i'm attending the CANE summer institute at Dartmouth college, and will probably be offline that whole week. at the end of that week of literairy classisism, i will wind down by spending a day or two with my brother in NY and will then return home and resume posting as normal. i'm very sorry, for the delay... but this should be the last major one of the summer... (i hope)

don't worry about it Duello--it's nice of you to let us know. As for the reading...been there done that--at least a good chunk of those. Rest assured though that the entire Oedipus Trilogy (Oedipus Rex, Antigone, and Oedipus Tyrranus--if memory serves--which I have ready many many times--though none of them recently) can be read in its entirety in one 3-4 hour sitting and that at a leisurely pace. They're not very long and read quickly. Can't say the same for the Iliad--that one was rough-reading--not nearly as fun as the Odessy(sp?) and bogged down with more references to historical greek figures than you can shake a stick at. Good Luck.

I am proud to announce that I just finished the Iliad. I would have finished days ago, but I had several friends dead set on distracting my reading and saving my sanity. in anycase today is thursday, it is 1:17 and I have remaining to me three and a half days to read the seven plays. I can do this.. I think.
