Located on a grassy knoll just beyond an inlet to the Samhrahdan Sea, the Falcon's Landing Tavern and Inn is an aged building. Many of the stones are chipped, and one side of the rear wall is held up with wooden supports. It looks as if the ceiling here caved in at one point and the roof has since been rebuilt, but the walls aren't as steady as they should be.
For the bit of wreckage here, the rest of the building looks rather sturdy. Weather-worn and perhaps a bit worse for wear, but in spite of its immensity, still rather homey. Elf-and-a-half-high windows sport intricate gold inlaid leaflets and vaulted ceilings make the main ballroom look extravagant and twice its actual size. A warm hearth burns to either side of the main room and the bar to the rear is ever-bustling with activity.
Inn rooms spiral up winding stairways into tall spires. To be frank, it simply doesn't look like something the Zhoan could build. Most of their structures are wooden and seem thrown together almost too hastily, but this far to the North and right off the Samhra, stone is easier to come by. The beach at Thel'Finan is mostly smooth, but the further north one travels, the rockier it gets closer to the mountains in the North.
This fine establishment is named for what some might guess as its purpose--a popular landing spot for falcons. On a fair day, at least three can be seen swooping about the sky above or roosting in a nest in the eaves. Better be careful where you step.
Falcon's Landing was founded by an elf named Akane. Akane was lucky enough to acquire what was left of the stone after the Thel'Finan Castle was rebuilt and used it to construct this seaside tavern not far at all from the Castle Grounds. But that was some six thousand years ago, and Akane himself has since passed. The tavern is now run by his youngest son, Arpis and his long time companion, Peladan. There are a few rumors about these old friends being a bit too friendly with one another, but are you going to listen to every bit of gossip you hear? We'll leave the true nature of such matters to the The Lunar Herald.
As you enter, Arpis looks up from where he's been using Peladan as a guinea pig for his latest culinary creation, just as he's shoving a spoonful of stew in his friend's mouth. Peladan chokes in surprise, looking slightly annoyed at his companion's over-eagerness. He swallows and pushes away from his seat in relief. "Ah! A customer!" he says a bit too happily. "Arpis, you'll have to let me off the hook this time so I can help him/her."
Arpis's ebon eyes narrow up at his friend and his lips tighten into a fine line. "You just want an excuse to get away from me," he complains. "But fine," he sighs, putting the bowl back on the table, much to the latter's relief, and says, "customers come first,"but don't think you're off the hook entirely."
Peladan's long hair go to falls down to nearly the back of his knees when he rises and walks over to greet you, a bit over-eager to serve. "Welcome to Falcon's Landing!" he says, and whispers, "and thank you for saving me from Arpis's Vegetable Medley Stew." He makes a face that says just what he thinks of it before saying at a normal tone, "How can we serve you?"
"I heard that!" Arpis complains, storing away the stew for later.
"I'm certain I have no idea what you're talking about," Peladan replies over his shoulder. "Are you here for a drink? A meal? A room for a night or two? No need to be shy."
