[As part of the Farren's Tower quest- 1st stop] As you follow the road to the address in the flier, it is hard not to notice how far from the rest of the town it actually is. In fact, it is unmistakably close to being as isolated as possible, if not for a clear dirt road leading from the town to the front of the house. Trees grow all around the nice, almost large home, making it nearly impossible to see from the town itself. The Lunar Wood runs through here, and it is obvious that the home, while humble and somehow royal all at once, was built here for seclusion. From what is anyone's guess. The porch of the home is large, bearing chairs that in turn bore two men. One of these men, the younger, was a human with sandy blonde hair and emerald eyes. He almost would have been frightening, if not for the fact that as those piercing eyes land on you, his handsome face turns into a smile. The second man is visibly older than the first, another human with gray-flecked brown hair and wisened blue eyes. He seems much more gentle and prone to pondering rather than charging in blindly. His is the air of a thinker. Both men are dressed as nobles, the younger man even moreso, and as you approach, they smile and offer a dip of the head instead of a full out bow. "Pleasure to meet you," the first man says. "I am Lord Farren Albrict, and this is Messir Jure Denib." "Pleasure," the older man says with a small bow and a kindly smile. He seems pleasantly distracted by the sounds of the Wood, or perhaps he is taken with the beauty of this day. "You are here in response to our flier, correct?" Lord Farren asks. He seems almost tense, but hides it well.

'I don't even know why I'm doing this' Qhai thought. She was a long way from Meridian, in Pomira Country...with a lion...responding to some damn advertisement. 'Oh, right. I was bored,' she recalled.
She always looked even more boyish with her somewhat too large leather armor on, but it was a bother to lug it behind her and the trees, gladly, kept the weather fair enough.
Lost in her own thoughts, and shuffling along looking at the ground, it wasn't until Xin bit her lightly on the shin that she was startled from her thoughts--and so missed the elegant introduction entirely.
"What?!" she demanded of the lion irritably as if saying 'gimme a break, would you you pain in the ass!'
'We're here, stupid,' Xin informed her. 'So hurry up and introduce yourself.'
"You had to bite me for that?" she chastized before lifting her single blue eye up to meet those of the...oh, they were nobles. She resisted the urge to spit in distaste, because really, the thought should have crossed her mind before now. "Whatever," she sighed as if being put out. "I'm called Qhai. This little jerk," she gave the lion cub a light kick to enunciate the last, "is Xin."

With short, shallow breaths, Anoúlk made her way through the trees. Though she was running, she could easily pick her path without hardly making a sound. It was chilly in these western parts of the land, so the tattered red scarf had been draped around her shoulders as a small cloak. Ah, finally. Spotting the outline of a house in the distance, he slowed her step somewhat. Two figures stood on the porch, and another in front of it. Another, smaller figure, belonging perhaps to an animal, stood by the latter of the three. Katars sheathed for the time being, she took a breath and continued towards the house.
Coming yet closer, the young woman pressed herself against a nearby tree, waiting a moment or two to observe the people closer. Two males, one female attempting to look male. Other than the animal, all seemed human, at least in appearance. For the time being, she decided, it was safe to proceed further. In case her judgment was wrong ... Well, she had her weapons at the ready, and it wouldn't take her five seconds to draw them.
Her soft-soled boots made a barely audible crunch on the pathway leading to the house. She had walked a small distance among the trees before stepping onto the path, so as to seem that she came the same way the other had. Arriving before the front steps, she bowed to the two men. "Milord Albrict, Milord Denib... My name is Anoúlk Sahra, of the Blaire Assassin's Guild. I am here on the account of the letter you sent." She said, with the utmost formality. Even if she was a wanderer, she was still part of the Guild, and all such missions she accepted had to be cleared by it. A rather inconvenient condition, but it was something that couldn't be avoided.

It was almost funny, how Qhai's arrival and the way she spoke-- was it to her lion..?-- seemed to make Lord Farren puzzled. Perhaps he was wondering if this strange young woman (although from a distance, she had definitely appeared male) was really one to handle such an important job. Jure, still, just smiled with older age as he looked around at the Wood and seemed to listen to a song that no one else could hear.
"A pleasure," Lord Farren finally responded, offering another nod of the head. His eyes lighted on Anoulk, and he smiled, seeming a little more confident in his distraction from Qhai (she was strange, after all, but perhaps it was not so bad.. He'd seen worse).
"Excellent," he replied to the assassin. "And a pleasure to meet you, as well. Do not mind Messir Jure; he tends to drift off into his own world now and again. I believe there are still others to come, so if you would, please, have a seat?"
As he spoke, two servants brought out chairs, four instead of only two, and Farren gestured that they all have their seats. He wanted his guests to be comfortable, especially when they may very well solve a puzzle that had been bothering him for quite some time, now.

A high-pitched hum sounded off and on as Nina bounded up the pathway, her wings fluttering quickly each time she leaped, causing her to stay in midair for longer.
Nina seemed to be a big fan of this, although flying on its own was a fantastically fun feat, the up-and-down motion seemed to thrill her.
As the simple dirt road wound up to the house, Nina made a great bound, giddily giggling, spinning in two complete circles and throwing an arm up for a wave.
"Helloooo!~" Nina shouted as what seemed like limitless energy echoed from the tiny Fae.
Spotting an open seat, Nina fluttered hastily over to it and plopped down delicately.
"Nina is here to work for you!" she cheerfully exclaimed, beaming at the two ladies next to her, then to the gentlemen, fully intent on listening to what exactly this new adventure would entail.

It was a good few moments after Nina's arrival that the sound of hooves reached the house, loud and easily coming from a very great beast indeed. Another moment, and the source came into view; a large black stallion walked proudly, almost moreso than a non-sentient being should, next to his master.
As usual, Syn looked none too happy, though had anyone seen her before she'd entered eye-sight of the others, they'd have seen her actually smiling as she cooed soft words to her companion. Yet, now, she looked as sour as ever, her natural grace and poise bearing a semblence to that of a panther stalking its prey. When she reached the house, she released Slainte's reigns, letting him wander and trusting him to avoid doing anything stupid.
She continued towards the house, standing just off of the porch everyone else was currently occupying, her cloak drawn up around her and her body boasting more leather armor than usual, an effort to keep warm in the much-cooler-than-Iodar climate. She could guess by appearances and the information in her letter that she was in the right place. The two men looked like landowners, and the three other women-- wait, was one of those a Fey?-- looked like a hodge-podge of female adventurers up to the task.
She was silent, waiting, her usual dangerous air about her and even more frightening red eyes on the men.

Anoúlk, like the Nymadine who had just arrived, did not take a seat. Eyes slowly scanning those present, she tried to find out the most she could about her fellow adventurers without asking. 'Half of a good kill is knowing your target through and through.' He had told her once. The two men looked to be of noble birth, or at the very least well to do. Their clothes were of the fancy variety, something one might see at a King's banquet or in the home of a wealthy merchant. One was older than the other. The woman with the animal, when viewed from a closer distance, seemed to appear somewhat less masculine, perhaps because her armor didn't quite fit her. Last of all, the Fey -- This being the first time Anoúlk has seen one of that kind, it was hard to distinguish anything about the creature. As for the Nymandine woman... It was best not to go in that direction.

Qhai seemed the only one intent to take a seat at first, flopping backwards and propping one foot up on the chair so that one knee bent and the other rocked said chair back and forth on it's rear legs as if the habit of one not accustomed to sitting still for long. But heck, if they were going to talk a while, might as well be comfortable...and then a fey, of all things, landed in another chair all chipper and smiley and...
Qhai decided instantly that she didn't much like this Nina--seemed like a walking/flying headache. Her frown creased just a little deeper until the lion cub butted his head into her shin. She glowered at Xin, muttered something about him being a pushover and paid no further attention to the little winged being.
Her one eye glanced at the other two for an extended moment before she apparently decided they weren't worth paying particular attention to and tilted her head at the Lord of the house saying, "is this everyone now? How long are you planning to make us sit around and wait?" Nevermind that she hadn't even been here five minutes yet. Qhai was not a woman known for her patience.

[sorry this took so long @_@]
The two seemed overjoyed at the arrivals, though Jure still seemed quite senile and content with his surroundings. Farren, on the other hand, seemed a bit more sane and definitely occupied with the situation at hand.
"My apologies for such short notice," he said with a bow. "You see, I was worried no one would come here. The tower gives off the most frightening feel to most, and that's not even anywhere near it. You ladies all seem more than willing to take on such a task, though, I see."
He seemed a mite bit nervous. However, he went on.
"All you need to know is where it is," he said. "After that, it's just a matter of making sure everything is safe and the 'coast is clear,' so to speak."

Post by Candessa Grey on Jan 17, 2007 14:36:17 GMT -5
The young woman had a taste for expensive things, which could be noticed by her attire. After all it was her firm belief that a beautiful girl should be adorned with beautiful things. She was the complete opposite of her estranged sister. Her long blonde wavey hair fell loosely below her shoulders which complimented the purple silk blouse and matching pants. Oh how the young woman loved silk.
Seeing the beautiful home her green eyes gazed at it with want. Oh how she yearned for a home like this as well as the power that came with it. Perhaps there is a man here who is lonely. I could marry him and then put a little something in his wine. Though a kiss will not wake this sleeping prince. Candessa thought as a soft giggle escaped her lips.
From an early age she learned that beauty was a powerful weapon and that it could bring great treasure to you.
Hiding behind a tree she seen that there were others who were too strapped for kas. Well there seems to be many doves though like the cat I shall leave but only there feathers. No she was not beyond trechary to get what she wanted. Her life was like a stage and she could play many a role. Sometimes she wondered where the real Candessa began and ended.
With a smile she walked from her hiding spot and too the pourch and the small party that was gathered there. " Hello I too am here for this adventure. It seems as though there is high interest. Well then we shall finish this task quicker." She said with a friendly smile. As she looked at the two men and the other ladies.
Oh that woman with the eye patch is absolutely hideious. Why would the gods make such a hideious creature. That lion should eat her and put her out of her misery. Such ugly people should not be allowed to live.

Crimson eyes did not need to flicker to the newcomer for Syn to know she was there before she showed herself. The Nymandine was not a fool in the slightest, and her senses rarely let her down. Like her hearing, for instance. Wax plugs safe in her pack, she could hear anything and everything she chose to in this section of the wood. In fact, she had grown used to her hearing skills over the years, and had become selective over what sort of things she caught the fastest.
Such as.. A person spying on them. Few things could evade the keen ears of a Nymandine Elf. However, even as Candessa approached, Syn did not look at her, instead focusing her frightening crimson gaze on the Lord Farren. The nervous Lord Farren. The Lord Farren who seemed to be hiding something from them all..
"What do we get in return?" she asked, voice stern and as dangerous as the rest of her. She really did not like being bundled up in her layers of clothing, preferring the air to be able to kiss her flesh where it so dared. The faster she got done with this quest, the better.

"Sounds boring," Qhai said glancing at the newcomer only long enough to say, "if it's finished too quickly, how am I supposed to have any fun?" There was that glint in her one blue eye, that 'not wholly sane in a not so good way' glint before turning her attention back to those hiring them. "I imagine the more people show up, the lower my compensation for the effort goes, and I'm not about to work for free, so why don't you just finish giving us the details before any more lost lambs wander along." She thought she'd gotten that saying right. Something like 'lambs to the slaughter' or what not. Whatever, she didn't really care anyway, as long as she got to have some fun and beat something up.
The gladiator actually might not be so 'ugly' if it weren't for the facial scar, the eye patch... ...and the fact that her clothes were about three sizes to big for her. But Qhai didn't care about such things. She was a fighter, not a lover, so to speak.
Xin lazily lifted his head and looked up at Qhai, who she frowned at him in reply. Another chastisement for bad manners had just occured, though for once Qhai's answer was a bit less verbal than others. She got tired of saying the same thing over and over again.

Lord Farren nodded in acknowledgement of all of their questions. He seemed to agree that the sooner this started, the better. Wouldn't do any good for him to pay several more women the same as he would these, after all. He was just a Lord, not a king.
"There are rumors about the tower being haunted, because it is said that it used to belong to a necromancer," he said quickly. "If there is anything malignant there, I'd like for you all to dispose of it and bring me the head of anything you encounter there, as proof of your efforts. You will be rewarded greatly, should you choose to go. Not many have the heart you all seem to have, and so you will be compensated justly."
Jure smiled in his senile state of mind. "It's outside of town in the Lunar Wood.." he said, and smiled, laughing for no reason.

*gives thread a jump start, hopefully*
Qhai rolled to her feet, slinging her trusty mace over her shoulder. "Just point me in the right direction. I don't care about necromancers. If I can't kill it, I'll just beat the tar out of it until it can't move anymore. Problem solved." She certainly was a gruff woman. The lion beside her almost looked as if it was rolling its eyes and saying 'this is so typical'.
Whatever the case, Qhai appeared to be finished talking. Conversation was dull. People were naive and mostly stupid. Like any good gladiator, Qhai was better at speaking with her fists than holding a civil conversation.

Anoúlk glanced rather suspiciously at the newcomer. Something about the air with which the young woman carried herself rubbed her the wrong way. Was she an assassin as well? If she was, then there were guild rivalries to settle. And anyway, the aura of a spoiled, thorough-bred royal somehow emanated from this girl. 'Somehow, I doubt her abilities with a blade', Anoúlk thought to herself.
Standing up, she bowed again to the to two men. "Messirs, you can be assured that whatever it is that haunts the halls of that tower, be it man or beast, will be brought to it's timely judgment. That is a guarantee from the Blaire Assassin's Guild."
Ah, self-promotion. But what was she to do? She was tied to that organization, for better or worse. In a rare flash of selfishness, her eyes fell once again to the blond human woman, so as to say 'that's how it's done. Lets see you do better'
