Nicolae glanced quickly at the Romari who had approached them. Nicolae had heard of Romari, but he had never seen one before. He tried not to stare, he didn't want to seem rude.
Nicolae thought they could use another warrior to help against the Yarl, but it wasn't really up to him. The clerics seemed to be running this show, so Nicolae would defer to them.

(we're not dead. I'm feeling mostly better now, so we're just waiting on Mihu and Jaiden before I post again and get us moving along--don't want to leave anyone behind after all. If the two of you weren't planning on posting again until after me, let me know and I'll get things going again.)

Mihu nodded.
"I have a horse. I will go with you. I'm strong and can swing a pick. Perhaps the strongest of us should wait here and try to protect the town should anything happen."
He glanced to the romari and gave a cursory smile. "Any help would be much appreciated, friend. Could you stay with the old man? He seems to know the most about yarls and would be able to advise you. Ren, Nicolae and I will go to the mines."
He pointed to a young boy, sooty and covered in dried sweat from the forge. "The boy is of utmost importance. He knows how to smelt the silver and make arrow heads. Protect him at all costs."
He went to the bartender and spoke a moment, then the bartender went into the back and returned with a large package. Mihu brought it back to the table.
"Food for us. We will need to move quickly."
(sorry! didn't realize it was my turn!)

(Yeah, I usually try to keep the order because it's a little easier to operate that way.)

Jaiden glared at the dirty little blacksmith boy. It was fairly obvious that the seer was the most important one here. The Yarl sounded big and nasty, but it was an animal just like any other, and it'd be hard to track. Only he had the divining skills necessary to find it before it tramples an orphanage or something. Since the group seemed more or less intent on ignoring him, he snorted softly and started to pad over to where Donovan was. "I guess I'll get started, then, but hurry up with that silver before I come to my better senses and realize how unpleasant it's going to be to get eaten by a Yarl."
Yes, he was being a little prude, but like the stars in the sky, some things never changed.

Nicolae took a deep breath.
"Well, I'm ready whenever you are," he told Ren and Mihu. "I only hope the Yarl will not attack until we get back."

He gave a slight grin as the other acknowledged him as the strongest. Raasst wasn't about to shirk any compliment, so he just nodded his assent. "I will keep them safe." He glanced to the old man and the boy in turn, offering them a smile he hoped wasn't intimidating, and he had practiced smiling in what he thought the humans liked to see. It usually involved hiding as much as he could of his teeth while still curving his face upwards. It felt so awkward, but it was a lot less intimidating than most Romari smiles, though if any other Romari saw, they'd probably think that Raasst was making funny faces at the other species.
He found himself a seat where he could watch the area easily, letting his spear rest over his shoulder. Now.. how to start a conversation with a human. Oh yes.. Money.. talk about Money. Humans loved money.

Ren jumped, startled when the Romari entered. It wasn't that he was afraid, but he'd been looking away from the door at the moment and then he turned around and something large and furry was right behind him. He offered Raast a sheepish smile and scratched behind his ear. Not a yarl, a romari. Phew. "Thanks!" he said cheerfully. "I hope you're sociable. I think our resident diviner gets irritable if he feels snubbed." He turned and stuck his tongue out playfully at Jaiden as if assuring him he was just teasing.
For now though, he had to be off with Mihumet and Nicolae. Under different circumstances, that would have been very tempting.
Donovan greeted the newcomer with a nod as Ren peered over his shoulder at the parcel of mining tools that had just been brought over, giving an approving nod. "Just get enough for a few arrows, Ren, not an entire arsenal. I know how you like to go overboard," he told his student.
Ren blushed a little. He DID tend to be a little overeager, but it was embarrasing to have it mentioned NOW. "I knooow," he complained at his teacher. "Well, we're off." He turned to Mihu and Nicolae and said, "my horse is on the other side of the tavern, so I'll meet you at the edge of town in five minutes." He carried the bundle of mining tools out the tavern doors and hurried along toward his horse.

Nicolae went outside the tavern and whistled. Shiba responded quickly, as she always did. She trotted up to him, small flecks of grass on her face. Nicolae smiled as he removed the grass, being that close to Shiba's face was something no other could dare. In fact, being close to Shiba at all was something no one would get to do for long. Shiba trusted no one except Nicolae, that was why Nicolae kept his money and belongings with Shiba, she would keep them safe.
"Come Shiba," Nicolae said. "We've got a new adventure, and people to meet at the edge of town."
Nicolae quickly climbed onto Shiba and rode to the edge of town to wait for his colleagues.

Mihu was waiting at the edge of town when Nicolae arrived. He never stabled his horse, his Silver. The mare knew exactly where and when she would be needed, and always awaited Mihu, sometimes before even he knew where he was going. He had a special kinship with many animals, a result of spending so many years in the forest.
He nodded to Nicolae as the warrior type approached, and looked around what he could see of the town. He didn't see Ren anywhere, and they had to leave soon. There was no telling when the yarl would return to claim its land.
He thought about Ren for a moment... those eyes... he couldn't remember humans having such beautiful eyes. Then again... it had been some time since he'd left the solitude of the forest...

They didn't have to wait long. Just about the time Mihu started daydreaming Ren turned the corner riding a stallion that looked as if it might well have been bred just for him. Long-legged and lean and dappled gray in color, the horse approached quickly--Ren making obvious efforts at times to slow him down before he dropped the bundle of tools in his lap.
Rayne loved to run, the faster the better, and though for the most part, Ren actually preferred to walk, liking the feel of solid ground under his feet, he found the horse agreeable enough--though Rayne DID have his moods sometimes. When it was all over...if he was still alive then--he determined to take the horse for a good long run to get it out of his system so he wouldn't be so moody.
"Sorry sorry!" he apologized with a cheerful grin as he approached the others. "Rayne can be a bit stubborn when he feels he's been neglected. Shall we?"
He smiled at Nicolae and Mihu in turn, oblivous to just what had been on Mihu's mind a moment before, but still finding himself caught gazing at the other a moment longer than was proper before turning back ahead. 'Be good Ren!' he reminded himself. 'You can ask him to join you for a drink AFTER you defeat the yarl...if you both live through it, that is.'
To cover the bit of awkwardness he spoke to his horse. "Let's go Rayne. I'll let you run as much as you want once we're out of town." He didn't know if the horse understood, but at least they were on their way.

Jaiden seated himself, tossing his pack in before him. He gave the Romari a curious look as he rummaged through the worn leather bag, not really taking his eyes off of him - he found the deck of cards regardless. He began to shuffle them deftly, something that was more than second-nature to him at this point, able to carry on with any other activities that didn't require his hands as if he wasn't doing it at all. He certainly found Rasst interesting, the way he had when he saw his very first Romari so many years ago, but he never learned how to go about a conversation with one. There were several times where it seemed he was about to say something but simply bit his lip afterwards, continuing to handle his divining deck and stare. It probably came off as a stand-offish thing to do, though this was obviously lost on the young man.

He glanced to the other, though the fact that he was staring didn't really affect the man much. It wasn't something that Raasst didn't expect. He got stares from most people, including even his own. It wasn't often one found a Romari who dressed and did his best to not act like a Romari. He offered the non-intimidating smile he reserved for use with other races. He didn't offer to start a conversation, because a lot of people just simply didn't want to talk to the wolfish man.
Eventually, he did look a way, to let his hand wander along the haft of his spear. He could sit still, really he could, but the fact of the matter was that Raasst would rather be out mining, or practicing, or just about anything really. It wasn't in his blood to do nothing, but for a man of his breed, he had phenomenal patience.

"So... have you ever fought a Yarl before?" It seemed more like an effort to break the silence surrounding their table than to start any meaningful conversation. That in mind, if anyone probably knew about it, the Romari was Jaiden's best guess. After all, didn't they spend like all of their time in the wilderness? Fighting beasties and sleeping in the grass and what not? He was fairly certain. Curious as to what their chances were (well, the rest the party, he had no intention of dying if things went badly), he continued to shuffle his cards while watching Rasst, emerald eyes shining brightly.

"No." He responded. "Normally, I steer clear of things like that." Unless he was being paid to hunt it. Though, he wasn't certain if he'd get money for this job, it was still more the reknown he was looking for. Once the Yarl was dead, he could let it be known that he was a bounty hunter.
"It won't be much harder to kill than a person." While Raasst had yet to take his first life as a bounty hunter, he had trained to kill them. "We have the advantage. We're smarter, more numerous, and it doesn't know we're coming. Not to mention the silver. I don't picture killing this beast to be particularly hard."
