OOC: Introduction thread my char making her entrance.
INC:
On the out skirts of the bustling city of Meridian is a small grey stoned cottage. In the front yard it is nicely manicured with a small garden of wild flowers and lilies. Addy's grandmother loved lilies. Though the large willow tree in the backyard with the rope swing is what Adalaine was particularly found of. Oh how she loved to swing at dusk in the summer and watch the wind make the branches dance.
The child was now a young woman, and had longed for her childhood again. With her chin leaned on the hand that held the left side of the rope Addy gently dragged her feet back and forth. Her white peasant styled tunic and matching cotton breeches were illuminated by the moonlight.
She is gone. I am alone and without family. Granny how I miss you..
Addy's parents did not understand her ability and thought of it as an abomination against the gods and man. Her father was a strict priest and believed that magic was a sin, including her gift. While her father believed in the power of prayer and religion, Adalaine Grey believed in science. Her mother Morgana did not inherit her mothers curse and when her daughter started to talk to people when she was alone she cast her out.
To be six years old and unwanted to be called a monster and a abomination by your own parents. To be called a witch by your own twin sister in front of your classmates. While her parents made her feel like a freak her granny made her feel special.
" You my dear are gifted with the third ear. The lost ones come to you to finish what they could not. To make what is wrong right. " It is so important to them that they would rather go to hell then be reborn again. "Her granny would say.
With her gift she had only been visited twice by these restless spirits and only one had said their name so she was bonded. That was frightening for her because Addy knew the consequences if she failed. Oh and she had come very close to meeting the consequences. At the time Addy was fifteen years old when she was visited by the phantom Donovan Dyre. Oh and what a frightening man he was as a phantom she could only imagine what he was like when he was alive. Donovan Dyre was a pirate and he would rather spend an eternity in enmahmihan being tortured by the immortal Mazel, then have his booty discovered by other pirates. It had taken her thirteen days to find his treasure and throw it into the sea so that it would be forever lost. At the memory of almost being turned to stone forever she shuddered.
Sensing her mood her black wolf raised his head and looked at her. One night when her and granny were picking berries she found Sind a wolf cup at the time starved , and decided to take him home. The wolf was more of a companion then pet. He was quit protective of her and thought of him more of a guardian.
Often when she was a little girl phantoms would visit her granny so that she could do their bidding. Unlike Granny Addy could never handle her meetings with such confidence. The young woman hated her gift and often thought of it as a curse. No all she wanted to do was make potions and heal people. Though grandma took pride in her work and easing the minds of the restless dead. Addy hoped that her skill would not get stronger in time but instead disappear. She would not even wish her ability on her enemies that is if she had any. The young woman needed to go out more to make enemies let alone friends.
Raising her head up she looked at the stars often her and granny would lay out an old blanket on the ground and look up at the night heavens. At the pleasant memory Addy smiled softly though quickly her lips turned to a frown. Their was a shadow in the branches and immediately she knew what it was.
No why I have not been visited in three years.
Adalaine Grey. I need you. The Shadow whispered.
Upon hearing her voice she jumped off the swing and ran into her cottage. Sensing her fear Sind lifted his body and stood on all fours and growled at the unseen threat, and quickly followed Addy inside.
Oh how she loathed this all consuming fear. She felt helpless and she was for walls were no boundary’s for them. They could go through walls. Quickly she light a fire in the fire pit. She hated the dark with the dark they came. Since she was a little girl she always slept with a lantern light by her bed. Nervously biting her lip to cease her from screaming she turned around to sit in a near by chair. That is when she seen him sitting there, his iridescent figure merging with the wooden and the green fabric. Falling to her knees in shock she looked up at him. Unlike the phantom of Donovan Dyre this apparition was handsome he had long blonde hair and well defined muscular body. In his life he most of been a man of prominence he was dressed in a black buttoned silk tunic and matching breeches.
“ Now is that any way to treat someone seeking your assistance?” The phantom asked with a cynical smile and his right eye brow arched over his eyeless eye.
“ If you bind me I will not do your bidding. I will not be bullied. I will wait the two weeks out and be turned to stone.” Said Addy to the phantom with as much confidence that she could muster. In truth she was doing everything that she could do to cease her shaking knees.
Her words had caused the phantom to laugh. It was not a cruel laugh but one of amusement.
“ Strong words for such a frightened girl. Though my task will take far longer then two weeks. I want retribution my father was too much of a coward to sell his eyes and do what is right. Go then and get a piece of parchment so that I can spell out my name.”
With a frown she did what she was asked. “ You know I do not take well to being ordered about. And I am not a girl.” Addy muttered under her breath as she got up.
Finding a piece of parchment and a quill she inked the point and sat at on a near by chair.
Pleased that she had listened to his orders he noded his head in gratitude. In his mortal life Demetrious Mavar was a man of honour, and he would never force her to do his biding, but she did not need to know that.
“ Alright my name is D-e-m-e-t-r-i-o-u-s M-a-v-a-r.” The phantom said hoping that she would know who he is.
Once she was done writing down his name she studied the piece of parchment in disbelief. [
b]“ You are thee Demetrious Mavar the prince of Daredenale. But you died almost 2000 years ago slaughtered by vampires with your family. How could you have been a phantom for so long?” Addy inquired with disbelief.
The mortal’s eyes were as wide as dinner plates. Oh how he missed his eyes. They were a beautiful shade of blue and often mesmerized a woman into his bed chambers. It had been so long since he felt the touch of a woman. His sacrifices were great but if he reached his goal he would not be sent to enmahmihan.
“ So you have heard of me? Well I have been watching you since you were a child. I know that while you hate this gift you have been given., you believe in good. I want to know why the vampires came and the events that lead up to the slaughter of my family. I also wish to restore Darendale too what it once was. Though I know it is a large task and I wont force you.” Demetrious said softly.
Even though he did not have eyes she could still sense his sorrow.
“ I am not saying yes and I am not saying no. Let me sleep on it and I shall tell you tomorrow.” With a sigh she stood up and looked the phantom over. Walking to her room she turned around and looked at him. “ I hope you gave me some privacy while you were watching me.” At the thought of him seeing her naked she blushed and continued to walk to her bedchamber.
With a laugh the Demetrious faded away, and would wait for her answer tomorrow night.
