Shakily, Aubrey nodded, sniffling a bit. He was biting his lip again, watching the floor. He was still a bit afraid, but he was calming down now.. Yes, he was going to be okay.. After all, Jaiden had stopped himself.. That made him better than Raechen at least.. He had been before, but now Aubrey wasn't sure how to explain anything involving those two.
Raechen.. Inve, Aubrey hadn't thought of that in days! With a strange choking sound, the poor blonde vomited a little, holding his stomach and trembling still more with the force of sudden regurgitation. It wasn't a lot, really, but enough that it splattered a little on the floor. Finally, Aubrey brought his own eyes up to Jaiden, looking completely pitiful and yet somehow.. Was he hopeful? Not quite.. It was hard to place, that look in his eyes.. Almost begging Jaiden not to be upset, really.. Hmm..

Maybe if he'd kept the hood down, he could be upset about this... he could find a way to blame Aubrey, but the only person who should feel bad was himself. He'd never felt so weak before. He tried to take advantage of some helpless kid who, up until a few days ago, had been a slave with a miserable existence. Surely he was better than this? He sighed faintly and reached up for one of the cloth napkins that they'd sent with their lunch, wetting it just slightly in a glass of water before he started to clean the other up.
"Maybe you should stay in for a while... I can go out and work by myself. You probably... don't want to be around me, anyway." He grimaced as he said this, facing a uncomfortable truth.

The blonde did not flinch away, allowing Jaiden to clean him up and swallowing. He didn't feel so good.. His stomach was churning, and he felt strangely dizzy. He flushed a little more, put a hand on his head, and moved to sit on the bed. "It might be better.." he said softly. "I'm not feeling very well.."
And indeed, he was looking a bit unwell.. Where there was no flush, he was slightly pale and a little clammy. Anxiety in a less than helpful form, really. Aubrey was convinced he'd feel better soon, though. "I need to think, anyways.." he said.

I need to think, anyways. He'd been expecting something along those lines, but the words still made him shiver, made him doubt. What if he came back and Aubrey was gone? How would he survive on his own? Someone would just end up taking advantage of him, just as he'd tried to... gods, what kind of person was he to even consider doing that? Surely he'd been raised better than to try to act out his desires on a helpless boy who, up until a couple of days ago, had been a slave. He blushed furiously and nodded. "I'll have some more water sent up for you. I'll be back in a while..." He gave one more look to the boy before pulling up his hood and departing, wondering if the other would still be here when he returned.

Yes.. Thinking.. Aubrey lay down on the bed, stared up at the ceiling, and just.. thought. Jaiden hadn't continued.. He'd stopped. That was good, right? Better than if Jaiden hadn't stopped. And he'd apologized.. Well, granted, apologies usually were never enough for most things anyways, but.. Aubrey felt somehow better with the apology.
The light in the room seemed too much for his eyes, and he slung his arm over them, closing them in his thought. Jaiden wasn't like Raechen.. Jaiden had stopped, and he'd apologized.. Before he knew it, Aubrey was dozing off, and not long after that, he was sleeping soundly, tired out from his breakdown..

Well, if he learned anything, it was that centaurs were a tough crowd. He was almost positive it had something to do with him being human and a total stranger to boot, but he carried himself with enough confidence to pull at least a couple in. He didn't make a killing, but they had an amount adequate for paying the inn fee for the night until he could give it a go tomorrow, and a little left over for the thing in his pocket.
He didn't bother to knock on the door, but he did press his ear up against it first - alarmed at the lack of sound, he quickly slid the key into the lock and slipped inside, quietly heaving his sigh of relief. Aubrey was here... he was just asleep. It was a little hard to see with only moonlight to go by, but he was definitely here. Well, he should probably go see what he could do about a late dinner, then. He padded quietly over to the boy and removed the small gift from his robes, a stuffed bear just big enough for a hand, with buttons for eyes. It wasn't much, but it caught his eye and it seemed like the sort of thing Aubrey would enjoy. He bent down, meaning to kiss his forehead, but deciding he didn't deserve to; he turned and headed out to discuss his options with the keep.

[I'm going to assume the bear was set beside Aubrey, since it wasn't written and you hadn't PMed me back yet ^^]
Aubrey had slept like a rock, his breathing steady and slow, like any other human being's should be. Sounds in the room, slight noises entering his silence, his dreamless slumber, and he shifted, rolling onto his stomach, a shroud of blonde haloing around his head. He seemed peaceful, like nothing in the world could bother him, touch him, harm him.
When his blue eyes fluttered open, he gave a soft groan. He'd fallen asleep.. Damn. Sitting up quietly, he rubbed his eyes, yawned, and stretched, trying to waken himself further into reality. He hadn't dreamed.. That was good. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder seemed bound to follow him, but that rest had been safe from the dreams. He blinked at the bear that rested beside him, lifting it and looking at it curiously.
Was this for him..? It had to be.. Who else was here but Jaiden, who- Oh.. Had Jaiden given this to him? All this time, he hadn't even looked towards the door, not even noticing if Jaiden was still there or not. Now, he looked, blinking in his surprise.

(Gah, yeah. I should really proof-read better. Sorry in advance for the short post. >.<)
Jaiden was there, at least in body. The Diviner appeared to be fast asleep at the table, hood-covered head resting on a nest of slender arms and soft fabric. He didn't have much to do in the time that Aubrey was sleep, and eventually gave in to his own sleepy-time allures. What appeared to be a food tray sat on the other seat, half of it nearly spotless, and the other half covered by a small white cloth.

The young teen watched Jaiden for a few moments, clutching the bear close. A small smile crept onto his lips as he watched the other. Here was Jaiden, completely innocent, like a newborn babe, with no emotion clouding his face. Aubrey kinda liked watching him. With a soft flush, he shifted to stand, moving to sit at the table and eat his food. He could wake Jaiden, or he could give the other more time to sleep and rest.
Inve knew Jaiden needed it. So, quietly as he could, Aubrey began to eat the food left for him, intent on waking Jaiden sometime after he was finished.

Aubrey wouldn't have to wait that long, apparently. Whether it was what little noise the other was making or just the natural course of things, Jaiden seemed to be rousing during the middle of the boy's meal. He made a few non-descript groaning/sighing sounds in the process, finally lifting his head and stretching his arms above his head. Given the whimper of protest, sleeping at small little tavern-room tables might not be the most comfortable thing in the world. He pulled his hood back, rubbed his eyes, and blushed when he saw Aubrey. "Oh... you're up. That's good." He felt like he was stiffening up inside, preparing himself for how much it would hurt when his friend told him to get out or that he'd be leaving in the morning.

You came back.. Aubrey thought. He wanted to say it, but simply smiled instead, standing and walking around the table to stand in front of Jaiden, bear held in front of him, close to his chest. "Thank you," he said, meaning the bear, and then averting his gaze to said fluffy object.
A smile crept onto his lips then, bright and almost mischievous as his eyes flicked to Jaiden again, showing that the smile reached the almost icy blue depths, keeping them warm. Then, he moved the bear foreward, making it 'kiss' Jaiden's nose cutely before a soft giggle fell from his own lips. If Jaiden was searching for any signs, that would be efficient enough.
"What're we gonna do next?" he asked, sitting again and watching his friend with a soft smile.

Well, disaster had been adverted... for the moment, anyway. He knew they'd have to revisit the topic of that kiss again some day, a day when they were both better prepared for what might come from the discussion. He considered that such a day would perhaps never exist. He was content to sigh happily at the other's act of affection, wrinkling up his nose momentarily and smirking afterwards. "Well, it's pretty late... I was afraid that you might not wake up. It was rough out there today, but I think I can do better tomorrow now that I've got a feel for things. That, and you'll be out there with me, won't you?" He offered a delicate smile to the other, once again looking forward to whatever immediate future they'd be sharing together.

Aubrey couldn't hide his grin, beaming brightly and proudly as he nodded vigorously, the light never leaving his eyes. He was overwhelmed with relief that Jaiden was no longer upet, or at least didn't seem to be. Yes, this was a good sign. Besides, Aubrey preferred not to spend the rest of his meager existence worrying, and he didn't want to see Jaiden squander his own existence hating himself. Life was too short, and Aubrey knew exactly how quickly it could end.
"I'd like that," he said, nodding again and still grinning that adorable, almost foolish little grin of his. "I can't let you do all the work. I've gotta earn my keep somehow." This was all said in such a lighthearted manner that it was impossible for one to even consider Aubrey unhappy. And happy he was.. A great weight had been lifted from him, and even though the day would come when they would discuss that kiss, Aubrey was prepared for it. A little healing at a time, and he would be all right, life permitting.

Looks like things are going to be alright, he thought with a measurable degree of relief. He wouldn't be able to forget the kiss, obviously, but he might be able to live with it as long as Aubrey forgave him. Still, he couldn't keep a certain thought from rising to the front of his mind, a dark, evil thing that held such allure for him. He tastes good. No, he couldn't think that... he stole that kiss, and had no right to reminesce about it, no right to recall how thrilling it was or how enticing Aubrey could be when he was frightened. His smile faltered for a moment but he recovered nicely, getting to his feet.
"We should probably get to bed then... if you think you can sleep. It's been a... long day." That was one way to put it, he supposed. It'd been trying, that was for sure. "I guess if you're not tired, I've got a book in my bag. You can read that? Either way, I need to rest." He padded quietly over to the bed, shed his robe with a nervous glance over his shoulder, and slipped into the covers. Even if Aubrey didn't want to stay up, Jaiden didn't think that he'd be getting too much sleep tonight. He couldn't get his mind off of the other's lips.

[*just plotted evilly* XD]
Aubrey perked at the word 'book,' but as Jaiden spoke, he knew that he wouldn't stay up very much longer himself. Even as much as the blonde loved to read, he had only slept for a few hours, and the feeling of being refreshed was fading from him now as it does after strenuous activity or using his fire magic.
"Will your offer stand tomorrow..?" he asked, not thinking too much as he stripped down to his undergarments like the night before. Anything there was to see here, Jaiden had already seen, so Aubrey was less embarassed about it. "Reading your book, I mean." He cracked a sort of lopsided grin at that, an adorable little thing as he climbed into bed beside Jaiden and under the covers.
