"Those of us with horses would slow the pace on the mountain road anyway," The Zhoan mans’ words triggered what had been niggling at the corner of Avatis’ mind.
“Chocla …” The name was a whisper as the deus woman glanced about. It was not as if she had honestly forgotten the animal, but usually, one or the other found their companion, her fear of the large creature subsided some time over the course of the trip to get there.
Honestly she did wonder what had become of the creature, and on insight crossed her arms. She knew exactly where her darling Chocla had disappeared to. Honestly, she couldn’t be upset, she’d allowed curiosity to keep her within the marble, wooden nest through the night, and it wasn’t as if he could leave a note, or a message with anyone.
She sighed softly, reassured the horse would be found or find her, probably in the same state of mind as the young woman. Shifting her cloak, settling for leaving it on until they left the town, Avati spoke up as the path had been selected and they would be getting on their way.
“If you need someone to check the paths ahead of our party, I can easily do that if we decide need be. For future reference.”

Nicolae road his horse up next to Avati. The woman intrigued him, but it also occurred to him that flying could be physically taxing for her and she didn't seem to have a horse of her own.
And he was a gentleman.
"Would you care to join me on my horse?" Nicolae asked her with a friendly smile. "It seems to me that flying might be somewhat taxing, and Shiba is quite friendly with those who don't try to steal from her."

Avati blinked up at the man and his horse, her first reaction as the horse neared was simply to move from its path, but as the rider spoke, Nicolae.
“I flew before I truly learned to walk, walking is the taxing part.” The deus smiled in return.
“Honestly… horses are lovely creatures and all, but riding is startling, moving by the power of a creature with its own mind, so much bigger and stronger than yourself. It’s amazing I made it here myself.
I might take you up on your offer, I hate towns, and making a spectacle of myself, people act as if they never seen a being who could ride the winds. But Chocla will be sore at me, and he will make the rest of my rides uncomfortable. He’ll be about soon enough, probably snuckered an apple or wandered back out of town to a grassy spot we stayed at the night before.” She smiled a hand gingerly reached out and patted the horses side.

Nicolae smiled as Shiba nickered softly at Avati's touch. Nicolae could tell that Shiba liked her, of course it didn't take much, Shiba liked pretty much everybody. However, Nicolae also understood Avati's point, Shiba also tended to get jealous if he were to pay any attention to another horse. Nicolae learned early on not to try and ride another horse in anything other than an emergency or Shiba wouldn't take it well.
"Well, if you ever do change your mind," Nicolae said with a smile. "You've made a friend here." He winked. "Shiba really likes you."

Gristle watched with amusement as the two canines took turns chasing each other, running in circles and enjoyed each other's company. With luck, he would be able to find the same comradery amongst the bipeds in the group; they seemed nice enough people, after all.
As the group began it's journey along the west road, he hoped that those lacking horses would be able to keep up without exhausting themselves. He had no concern for himself, naturally, being quite used to keeping a quick pace. With all his training and also as many times as he had run with Grr, he had a healthy constitution for such things; he doubted all of the others could say the same.
It was with that thought in mind that it occurred to him that he knew precious little about the others, people whom he would very well be going into battle alongside. That seemed a distinctly unsafe situation so he decided to rectify it. A little conversation would surely make their travels more pleasant, regardless. "So tell me," He began cheerfully, looking over his shoulder so that his voice would better carry to those behind him. "Are you all warriors? I, myself, am a follower of the Way of the Serene Claw, a dryadic warrior just as my grandfather was."
Smiling with pride at both the thought of his dear grandfather and also the confidence Boshtole had shown in him, Gristle puffed up a bit as he added "It has been said that I am one of the most promising students ever to follow the Serene Claw. I might even become a teacher of the Way some day. If I survive long enough." The last note might sound like worry or fear from most but to Gristle it was just stating the facts. He did, of course, hope to lead a long and exciting life but he knew that exciting lives were all too often cut short. That's what made them exciting!

"For myself," Eldarion answered Gristle's question first as they began their journey down the road. "I am a Paladin of the lady Tetra. I've naught but a few spells under my charge yet, but my blade serves her well enough while I learn the trade." He narrowed his eyes a bit at the road ahead and said to Avati, "we will surely keep your kind offer in mind m'lady, but for now, the road is wide open and the day clear. Elvish eyes will serve the purpose well enough for the time being. I imagine we will reach Darendale before lunch, and with any luck tomorrow morning will find us where the road forks toward Garumeth." He may not be familiar with the area terribly, but Eldarion, apparently, was well informed of the terrain. Well, it was said that the Zhoan and Garumeth's Centaur Peoples got along famously. He probably had heard no small number of tales from that friend he'd mentioned earlier.
